Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

Funeral

My step-mom, Marie Henderson, lost her battle with cancer last Thursday, April 22, 2010. She knew Jesus as her Savior and is now experiencing something so amazing, we can't even imagine it. The funeral was last Sunday and it was really nice. The small country church she attended was packed full of people who loved her and there were even people standing in the back. The pastor did a wonderful job of honoring her and presenting a message of salvation to many who may have never heard it otherwise. I was able to pick a scripture to read during the graveside service. I didn't know which one I would read until we were in the truck on the way to the cemetery, but the Lord gave me this scripture and I think it was perfect. Here it is:

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.
